The Bridge of Soft Whispers
To cross a deep gorge, Kit and Teddy must walk across a bridge that shakes whenever someone speaks loudly. Kit teaches Teddy to whisper sweet, encouraging words to keep the bridge stable and safe.
Kit and Teddy are walking along the rocky path of Echo Canyon to find the way to the green grass on the other side of the gorge, where they want to watch the night stars together. After a while, the two little friends stop in front of a deep gorge. Here stands an old rope hanging bridge connecting the two cliff sides, swaying gently whenever the mountain wind blows past
- The bridge is too high Kit, Teddy is not going Teddy stops right at the edge of the stone cliff, looking down at the deep gorge under his feet while shaking and clutching Kit's jacket tightly. As soon as his worried voice fades, the rope bridge suddenly shakes violently and makes creaking sounds throughout the canyon
Kit turns back and holds Teddy's shaking paw to comfort him, placing a finger over his lips. Kit leans close to the little bear's ear and explains with a very quiet whisper: - The Whisper Bridge is very sensitive to loud noises, if we speak loudly it will shake, but if we whisper softly it will stand still
The two little friends hold hands and take their very first slow steps onto the wooden planks. Each time he steps on a wooden plank, Teddy bends down and whispers encouraging words to the bridge: - Keep steady friend, we are walking very quietly After each of Teddy's gentle whispers, the ropes of the bridge tighten by themselves to keep them balanced under their feet
- Thank you friend bridge for helping us cross Teddy happily smiles at Kit as soon as they both step onto the safe grass on the other side of the gorge. They turn back to look at the rope bridge which now stands completely still down in the valley, swaying gently as if waving goodbye
Night falls and tiny stars begin to appear in the valley sky. Kit and Teddy find the soft grass just as they wanted and lay out a small blanket to get ready for sleep. Lying under the starry night sky, the two friends lie next to each other warmly after a long journey, listening to the mountain breeze rustling outside and slowly closing their eyes to sleep well
