The Little Gardener's First Harvest

Liam and his grandpa stood before a raised bed of dark, soft soil in their sunny backyard garden. Grandpa opened his hand, showing several tiny brown tomato seeds in his palm. He showed Liam how to use his finger to press small holes into the warm dirt, and then drop one seed into each hole. Liam carefully pushed a light layer of dirt over the seeds. They both ran out into the wet garden. Together, Liam and Grandpa stretched the net over the plants. - Hold the corner tight, Liam! Grandpa shouted over the rain. The storm passed, and the tomato plants grew tall and strong. Small yellow flowers bloomed on the branches, and soon, round green tomatoes appeared.
