The Colors of Holi

Rohan stood in the middle of his sunny courtyard in India, feeling very excited for the Holi festival. He wore a clean, white cotton t-shirt. On the wooden table in front of him, there were several bowls filled with bright, colorful powders: red, yellow, green, and blue. His little sister Priya ran into the courtyard, holding a small plastic water sprayer in her hands. Rohan smiled and looked at his sister with a happy face. - Today, we will play with all these beautiful colors together, Priya! Priya cheered, waving her water sprayer happily.

Rohan took a handful of soft, yellow powder from the wooden bowl on the table. He leaned toward Priya and gently rubbed a little powder onto her cheeks, leaving bright yellow streaks. - Happy Holi, Priya! Rohan said with a warm smile. Priya giggled, looking at her yellow reflection in a small puddle of water. The yellow dust sparkled brightly under the warm sun. Priya quickly took a handful of pink powder from another bowl, getting ready to throw it at her brother's clean white t-shirt.

Priya laughed and chased Rohan around the courtyard, trying to spray him with water from a blue bucket. Rohan ducked and ran quickly, laughing as he dodged the splashing water. They ran in circles around the large green mango tree in the center of the yard. Their bare feet made soft pattering sounds on the warm ground. The courtyard was filled with their happy laughter and playful shouts, and both children felt full of energy on this special day.

While running, Rohan accidentally bumped into the edge of the wooden table. A bowl of red powder fell off, splashing red dust all over the grass. Rohan slipped on the wet ground and landed with a soft bump. His clean white t-shirt was now covered in dark soil and mud. Rohan looked at the spilled bowl with a worried face, fearing he had ruined their fun game. He sat quietly on the grass, looking down in confusion.

Priya quickly ran to her brother. Instead of being angry about the spilled bowl, she showed a wide, happy smile. She reached out her hands and helped Rohan stand up from the muddy grass. Then, she took a handful of green powder and gently sprinkled it over Rohan's hair, giggling. - Do not worry, brother! Holi is a time for forgiveness and sharing joy together! Rohan's worry disappeared instantly. He felt a warm wave of happiness in his chest, glad to have such a kind sister.

Soon, neighbors and friends ran into the courtyard to join the celebration. Handfuls of pink, yellow, and green powders were thrown into the air, creating a bright cloud of floating colors. The air was filled with warm laughter. Rohan's white t-shirt and Priya's white dress were now covered in beautiful, messy colors. The siblings looked at each other's colorful clothes and laughed out loud with joy, feeling the true spirit of the happy festival.

After playing for a long time, the tired children sat down on a long wooden bench in the shade. Mother walked out of the house, carrying a tray of warm, sweet gujiya pastries. Rohan and Priya washed their hands clean under the cool tap. They shared the crunchy, sweet pastries together, enjoying the delicious taste of the coconut and sugar filling. The sweet treat filled them with fresh energy after their long, active game. - These are delicious, Mother! Rohan said, chewing happily.

As the Holi festival came to an end, the neighbors waved goodbye and walked back to their homes, their faces covered in bright colors. Rohan and Priya stood together on the front porch, waving their hands back to their friends. They looked down at their colorful, messy clothes and smiled at each other. They felt very happy to have shared a wonderful day of play, learning that forgiveness makes friendship even more colorful.
