Maya’s Colorful Sari

Warm afternoon sun fills the cozy living room in Jaipur, lighting up the bookshelves. Maya is sitting on the rug, stacking her wooden blocks into a tall tower. She looks up and sees her mother, Mama, opening the large wooden closet. Inside, rows of colorful silk fabrics are rolled up neatly, shining like a rainbow. The silk slides smoothly through Mama's fingers like warm water. Maya reaches out her small hands to feel the fabric, loving how soft and cool it is against her fingers. Mama gently drapes the end of the pink silk over Maya's shoulder and says - We are going to a special festival today. Let me help you wear a beautiful sari, Maya! Maya giggles and skips around the room, making the pink silk float gently in the air.

Mama carefully wraps the long silk fabric around Maya's waist, making neat little folds. Maya stands very still on a wooden step stool, holding her arms out wide like a little bird. She watches Mama's hands tuck the folds of fabric safely into place. As Maya moves her arms, her golden bracelets clink together making a cheerful, metallic sound. Maya laughs happily - Look, Mama! I am going to look just like a beautiful princess!

Mama takes the long remaining end of the silk fabric and drapes it over Maya's left shoulder. The pink silk hangs down behind her back, flowing softly down to her heels. Maya twists her body and looks over her shoulder, admiring the shiny golden border on the fabric. Mama leans down, kisses Maya's forehead, and places a small pink dot right between the little girl's eyebrows. Mama whispers softly - You look absolutely perfect, my little princess.

Maya steps off the stool and spins around in a circle, making the pink sari bloom wide like a rose. Her golden bracelets make a soft clinking sound as she walks. Mama takes Maya's hand and they walk out of the door toward the garden, where colorful festival lights are starting to shine under the evening sky. Maya looks up at Mama and says - I love my pink sari so much! Let's go to the festival together, Mama!
